What we ask about your Volkswagen
Requirements vary by model, year and engine, so a quote that ignores those is a guess. These are the things that actually change the figure.
The engine code
This is the one that matters. Volkswagen specifies oil to a particular standard, and on many of its engines the correct standard differs between variants that look identical on a spec sheet. Which standard applies to yours is set by your engine, not by the model name. The code is on the build sticker, usually in the service book or the spare wheel well. Send it and the quote is right first time.
Which service regime it is on
Some Volkswagens are set up for a fixed schedule and some for a longer, condition-based one, and where that is the case the oil specification differs between them. Which one your car is on was decided when it was delivered. If you do not know, we will read it rather than assume.
The transmission
A dual-clutch transmission has a specified fluid and filter service in the schedule; a torque-converter automatic or a manual has its own arrangement. Tell us the model and year and we will confirm which you have before we quote.
The logbook
Bring it. We follow the manufacturer's schedule, use fluids and parts that meet the specification, stamp the book and keep our own record.

Servicing here does not affect your consumer guarantees, and manufacturer warranties generally do not require dealer servicing where the work meets the manufacturer's standards. We follow the schedule, use appropriate parts, stamp the logbook and keep the records.

Volkswagen is where a generic service goes wrong most often, and almost always for the same reason: the wrong oil. The specification is not a suggestion and it is not interchangeable between engines, so we ask for the engine code before we put a number on anything.
We are not a Volkswagen dealer and we are not authorised by Volkswagen. We are an independent workshop that buys the correct specification and documents that we did.
As everywhere else on this site, the schedule for your car comes out of your car's own book. We will not publish intervals here, because the interval that fits one variant is wrong for the next one.

Where do I find the engine code?
Usually on a sticker in the service booklet, and often on a label in the spare wheel well. It is a short letter-and-number code. If you cannot find it, send us the rego, model and build year and we will work it out before quoting.
Can you use the correct specification oil?
Yes, that is the point of asking for the engine code. We buy oil that meets the specification your engine calls for, and the invoice records what went in, which is what matters if the service history is ever questioned.
Do you service the dual-clutch transmission?
Where your schedule specifies that service, yes, using the specified fluid. Tell us the model and year and we will confirm whether your car has one and whether it is due.
