When you need a blue slip
A blue slip is an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection. You need one when the vehicle is not currently registered in NSW, registration expired more than three months ago, bought unregistered, moved from interstate, imported, or repaired after being written off.

What do I need to bring?
Proof of ownership and proof of identity. For an interstate vehicle bring the previous registration papers; for an import bring the import approval and compliance documentation. Ring us if you are unsure.
How long is a blue slip valid?
Forty-two days from the date of inspection. That is the window in which you must complete the registration with Transport for NSW.
Is an imported vehicle more expensive?
An imported vehicle blue slip is quoted: it takes longer because the compliance documentation has to be checked as well, so we confirm the fee when you book.
Can the car be unregistered to get here?
It needs an unregistered vehicle permit to be driven legally, or it comes on a tow truck. We cannot inspect a vehicle that has been driven here without one.
