What we ask about your Mercedes-Benz
Requirements vary by model, year and engine, so a quote that ignores those is a guess. These are the things that actually change the figure.
What the service indicator is asking for
Most modern Mercedes-Benz models calculate service requirements from how the car has been used and display what is due. That is the instruction we work to. We read it from the car rather than assuming a distance-based interval that may be wrong in either direction.
The engine variant
The oil specification is exact and it is not interchangeable between engines that share a model name. We confirm the variant before quoting, because the wrong oil is both expensive and avoidable.
Petrol or diesel
A diesel brings the exhaust after-treatment conversation, including how the vehicle is driven. A petrol does not. It changes what we check.
Service history
Where it has been serviced and what was done. On these cars the history affects what we look at first, and a complete one means fewer questions for you to answer.

A Mercedes-Benz will generally tell you what it needs, and the mistake is to override it with a generic schedule. We read the car, quote what it is asking for, and explain it in plain terms.
We are an independent workshop. Mercedes-Benz has not authorised us and we are not a dealer. What we can do is meet the specification, document that we met it, and charge independent rates for it.
If a job is genuinely better done by a franchised dealer, we will say so. That happens rarely, but it happens, and you are better served by hearing it than by us taking the work anyway.

Can an independent workshop service it without affecting the warranty?
Yes. Australian Consumer Law prevents a manufacturer requiring dealership servicing as a condition of a new-car warranty. The schedule must still be followed and appropriate parts and fluids used, which is what we do and document.
Do you use the correct specification fluids?
Yes, that is why we confirm the engine variant first. The specification is exact, and the invoice records what went in so the service history holds up.
What if it needs something you cannot do?
We will tell you before we start rather than after. Some work genuinely belongs with a franchised dealer, and saying so is cheaper for you than us learning on your car.
