What brings a car in
Most cars that will not start on a cold morning have a battery at the end of its life. Most, not all, and what the car does when you turn the key narrows it quickly.
- Turn the key and nothing at all happens

Can you come to me if the car will not start?
We are a workshop, not a roadside service. If the car will not start at all, a tow or a jump gets it here. Ring us first, we will tell you whether it is worth moving.
How long does a battery last?
Three to five years in Sydney conditions is typical. Heat kills batteries faster than cold. If yours is over four years old and struggling on a cold morning, it is near the end.
Why does my new battery keep going flat?
Usually a charging fault or a parasitic drain. Something is either not putting charge back or drawing it out while the car is parked. Both are measurable, and we measure them.
It cranks but will not fire. Is that the battery?
Usually not. A healthy crank means the battery has enough in it to turn the engine, so the fault is more likely fuel, spark or a sensor. The diagnosis for that is free as well.
Is the battery test free?
Yes. Diagnosis is free. You only pay if you approve the repair. We tell you what the fault is, and what it costs, before you commit to anything.
